Our Tallahassee, FL office is hiring a Transportation Engineer/Electrical Vehicle Infrastructure Specialist to assist FDOT with planning, developing, implementing, and managing the Florida Electrical Vehicle Program. This position will be based in Tallahassee, Florida so candidates must be local and willing to work in Tallahassee or be able to relocate there within a reasonable amount of time after an offer is made.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Develop prioritization strategies and a phased implementation approach addressing where, when, and how EVSE is deployed over time.
  • Administering the NEVI formula funds.
  • Assist with stakeholder and public engagement activities.
  • Perform site readiness reviews of proposed project locations, evaluate procurement options and opportunities, and assist FDOT with conducting the procurement from beginning to end.
  • Develop standards, specifications, cost estimates, RFIs and other procurement documents.
  • Review EVSE site design for compliance with FDOT and industry standards
  • Provide oversight for design and construction services and verify compliance with contract terms and requirements.
  • Assist with federal reporting and program evaluation
  • Perform other related duties as necessary.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Civil or Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of related industry experience
  • Design experience adhering to National Electrical Code and state, county, and city codes, ordinances and standards
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and stay organized.
  • Highly responsive to requests from clients.
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in designing electric vehicle charging stations is strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with NEVI formula program requirements
  • Familiarity with FDOT policies, procedures and systems (PSEE, CFM, ERC, RCI, etc.)
  • Understanding of FDOT project delivery
