Company Overview
For over three decades, Taylor Engineering, Inc. has focused its attention on water-related issues and the effects of water resource activities on the environment.

In its early years, the company — and in particular its founder, R. Bruce Taylor — made its mark as a coastal engineering firm. During the ensuing years, the Florida-based company began a slow, landward march from the ocean. It made meaningful inland stops, first at the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway, then to Florida’s flood-prone areas, then to growing cities.

At milestones along the march, punctuated by projects of varying size, the company expanded the breadth of its expertise by bringing on staff to address water-related problems landward of the coastal zone. Civil engineers joined coastal engineers to address problems associated with inland navigation channels. Hydrologic and hydraulic engineers took on the rigors of flood studies. Working at coastal and inland locations, engineers with waterfront design abilities began to design bulkheads, seawalls, and marinas.

As the engineering side of its operations grew, the company added environmental scientists and GIS professionals and analysts to provide clients with a suite of comprehensive services — from concept design through permitting to construction.

Today Taylor Engineering takes on projects — from beach nourishment to dredged material management, from flood insurance studies to environmental impact assessments — that cover the spectrum of water-related issues.

While the company’s range of services has expanded landward over time, they share a common characteristic: each supports projects occurring in the water or at the water’s edge.

Throughout its history, Taylor Engineering has remained true to its vision — to be the best in delivering leading-edge solutions to challenges in the water environment.
